Objectives of the educational program:

• preparing a graduate for industrial activities in industrial enterprises in the field of geology.
• possessing deep knowledge of natural science, general technical and economic nature, as the foundation of vocational education.
• preparing graduates for research activities in innovative technologies: the formation of innovative thinking and the development of research methods.
• preparing graduates for organizational and management activities to ensure the effective production.
• Training graduates for project activities in the field of geology, searching, exploration and development of mineral deposits, environmental management.

Innovative educational program

«PRECISION FARMING» (MSc)

Study levels: Postgraduate

Language of instruction: English

Overview: A unique educational program has no analogues in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is aimed at increased efficiency of farming system through implementation of innovation technologies and software products in agriculture.

EIP goals:

• to create educational environment favorable for professional becoming and intellectual development of a specialist who can be functionally competent and competitive in any professional situation.
• to master methods of development and research aimed at creating cartographic information based on analysis of remote sensed data, weather data, agrochemical soil criteria etc.
• to train surveying engineers of new format who are able to implement the latest achievements in the sphere of satellite, remote sensing, cartography, geoinformation systems in order to improve efficiency of farming systems.

What students will learn:

• 1. use positioning methods and systems in precision farming;
• 2. monitor farming processes on via satellite images and data from pilotless aircrafts;
• 3. create thematic maps for agricultural industry on the basis of ERS analysis
• 4. apply Variable Rate Technology and fields irrigation systems
• 5. develop and create agrotechnologies control systems for improving effectiveness of farming processes
• 6. improve existing and implement advanced methods of crops yield assessment and planning
• 7. know modern methods of control and communication

«PREMOTE SENSING METHODS OF EARTH STUDY WITH THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY» (MSc)

Overview: modern digital and remote sensing methods and approaches are applied for studying outer crust of earth. These methods and approaches considerably increase credibility of research results and enable to save resources and time required for work.

EIP goals:

• to train specialists in the sphere of earth remote sensing (applied direction) for production activity at industrial enterprises (within the frameworks of State program of industrial innovation development for 2015-2019).
• to train master students for scientific-research activity: development of innovation technologies in the sphere of geology, geodesy, cartography, environment protection.
• to provide master students’ participation in scientific researches, projects, patents and innovation activities.
• to train master students for organizational and management activities through mastering forms and methods of work with personnel, methods for employees management, analysis of current forms of institutional management, procedures of modeling management processes, development and justification of suggestions for improvement.

What students will learn:

• analyze and synthesize data on coordinates systems, their transformation and application for making maps of different purposes.
• map complicated geological complexes using modern software, can create plugins and scripts for solving mapping tasks in Pyton language.
• apply digital methods and approaches for solving problems of mining-industrial complex, environment protection and can create 3D models and analyze them.
• use space-based, geodetic, geologic and geographic information for assessment and forecasting environment conditions and protection for studying outer crust of earth
