EKSTU Vice Rector participated in VIII Meeting of the Chinese-Kazakhstan Sub-Commission on Scientific and Technical Cooperation as a part of Kazakhstan delegation

On 13 May 2019, a delegation composed of the Vice Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Fatima Zhakypova, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurinov, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages Dinara Dauen, Director of the Research Institute of Agroinnovations and Ecology of the Kazakh National Agrarian University Sagynbai Kaldybayev, Doctor of the Sub-Department of Agrochemistry of the Kazakh National Agrarian University Nurzikhan Seitkali, Vice Rector of the D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University Oleg Gavrilenko, Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the People’s Republic of China for questions of education and culture Kairat Abdrakhmanov participated in VIII Meeting of the Chinese-Kazakhstan Sub-Commission on scientific-technical cooperation of the Cooperation Committee by invitation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China. The meeting began with speeches of co-chairs of the two countries, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China Huang Wei and Vice Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Fatima Zhakypova. During the meeting, possibilities of exchanging information about scientific-technical policy: condition and prospects in the development of the two countries, condition of the Kazakhstan-Chinese scientific-technical cooperation in the area of science and technology, especially the situation on implementation of the key joint projects.

EKSTU Vice Rector Oleg Gavrilenko made a presentation about the university and the results of scientific activity, which attracted interest of the Chinese side.

From a perspective of cooperation, the Chinese side presented a program about short-term scientific-research internships for talented youth of Kazakhstan. On the part of China, there will be grants for internships with the duration of 6 to 12 months provided for young Kazakhstan scientists.

Also the parties will continue promoting research institutes, universities, and enterprises of the two countries for creation of joint laboratories and R&D centers.

At the end of the meeting, dates and location of the IX Meeting of the Sub-Committee were determined.
