August 2020 marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, composer, founder of Kazakh written literature and the first classic, Abai Qunanbaiuly. On his birthday, August 10, the EKTU hosted an academic council dedicated to the anniversary of the thinker, headed by the rector Zhasulan Shaimardanov.
"Abai in his works clearly reflected the mighty spiritual power of the people, its most noble qualities. The topics raised by Abai are still relevant today, because the center of his thoughts has always been a person, "notes the rector of D. Serikbayev EKTU.
The members of the Academic Council online summed up the interim results of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly and discussed upcoming projects related to the poet's legacy.
At the university, the beginning of the jubilee year was laid with the organization of an exhibition in partner universities of the Altai Territory within the framework of cooperation between the Association of Asian Universities and the Council of Rectors of Greater Altai universities. In addition, EKTU initiated the development of a model of social competence of youth in the region, based on the humanistic principles of the thinker. The project is called "ADAM BOL". Its essence is a different look at the quality of the graduate's skills for successful adaptation and integration in modern society. Also, a training course "Abai and the XXI century" was developed for university students, the content of which includes the study of the historical era of Abai and his works. In June, a round table was held at the university with the participation of the famous Abaeologist Garifolla Yesim and People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Shakhmardan Abilov. Among others, a specialized multimedia center named after Abai Kunanbayev will start operating in the educational process of the university.
Employees of EKTU Ruslan Chettykbaev and Andrey Okhotenko visited the homeland of Abai and filmed video materials of the iconic places of life and work of the poet for demonstration in 3D. In this regard, the university has already acquired a special 3D projection dome that will be built into a traditional yurt.
In the early 2000s, the Abai International Club actively worked at the university. University professor, PhD Grigoriev E. studied the poet's legacy for many years and called him "Prometheus of the Great Steppe". The publication of the works of Grigoriev E. - "Adam Bol", "Abai and the Alash Movement", "Prometheus of the Great Steppe", "Please: listen to my words." Also, popular science essays on the socio-political and philosophical views of Abai. "
The famous writer Chingiz Aitmatov wrote about the great son of the Kazakh people: "As the personification of the intellectuality, moral and spiritual culture of his people, Abai is undoubtedly a national achievement of the world order".
