 30 January 2020

In the framework of a working visit to East Kazakhstan, the Chairman of the Committee of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akbatyr Nadyrbayev visited the D. Serikbayev EKSTU.

The purpose of the visit is familiarization with the laboratory potential, material and technical base and meeting with The Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The guests were shown the laboratory of the Center of Advanced Development "Veritas" and equipment used by researchers. Akbatyr Nadyrbayev was interested in accreditation of the laboratories, how long they were around and whether staff were trained here or attracted from elsewhere.

Vice Rector for Research and Innovation Oleg Gavrilenko and Head of the Center "Veritas" Natalya Kulenova gave full answers to the questions. The EKSTU laboratories are accredited in accordance with ISO-17025. Considering the fact that the laboratory complex of the EKSTU works in the areas of science and education, as well as commercialization, it employs master and PhD students and invited specialists. All research with use of reagents and other substances is conducted strictly in accordance with GOST.

Also the guests visited the "Big Altai" Museum. The Chairman was impressed by the hall of geology and the revival of ages through modern technology and equipment.

As Akbatyr Nadyrbayev noted, today natural resources and the bowels of the earth are being depleted all over the world. In view of this, new research, exploration of new deposits and modern technological solutions for extraction and processing of raw materials are needed.

The Chairman Akbatyr Nadyrbayev offered to hold the "Big Altai: A Unique Rare-Metal-Gold-Polymetallic Region of Central Asia" international conference - the major annual geological event - on the basis of the EKSTU. According to his words, the level of the EKSTU allows to hold events of such scale, with participation of famous foreign scientists and active geologists. We have something to show, to be proud of and to share.
