Cooperation agreement between the universities was signed during a working visit of Professor Zhassulan Shaimardanov, Rector of the EKSTU, to Tashkent in January 2019. Leading universities of the two Central Asian states intend to cooperate in the sphere of student and faculty academic mobility. Besides, the partner universities intend to realize the opportunity of creating joint educational programs in metallurgy and geology and consider the question of joining Kazakh and Uzbek scientists into international research groups for mutually beneficial development of higher technical education in the Central Asia.
According to Professor Zhassulan Shaimardanov, Rector of the EKSTU, opening the auditorium named after K. Satpayev is one of important steps in the history of the relationship between the leading technical universities of the two states. Science does not know boundaries and so is the contribution of outstanding scientists to the development of science. The name of Kanysh Imantayevich Satpayev, an outstanding scientist, is the symbol of selfless service of science for the entire Turkic world, emphasized the Rector.
The guests of the opening ceremony noted that the auditorium turned out light, modern, and cozy. Besides multimedia equipment, décor, and furniture, the EKSTU presented the TSTU a collection of minerals.
Cooperation between the EKSTU and TSTU is an important direction in the educational sphere of Central Asian states. This is confirmed by the recent trip of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. The leaders of the two countries – Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev – discussed the questions of bilateral strategic partnership in political, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres during the recent trip to Tashkent. 2019 is declared the Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan.
