The working team of the project of D. Serikbayev EKTU and the University of Delaware (USA) discussed the implementation of the project and the possibility of further cooperation.

The joint project of the University of Delaware (USA) and D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University became one of the 5 winners of the competition among 35 applications and received funding from the US Embassy in Kazakhstan and the American Council for International Education.

The implementation of the partnership project «Partnership in English as a Medium for Scientific Instruction and Communication" between the University of Delaware and EKTU will last until December 2021. Cooperation between universities is being implemented in three areas within the framework of the project: professional development of EKTU faculty teaching STEM courses in English; support of English as the language of scientific communication and publications; development of research skills of the university faculty.

The project is being implemented on the basis of EKTU Center for Educational Technologies headed by Anthony Hetrick and the University of Delaware English Language Institute.

The University of Delaware is one of the oldest research universities in the United States with the current President of the United States, Joseph Biden, among its graduates.

Within the framework of the project EKTU together with the University of Delaware conduct activities aimed at improving the methods of teaching STEM at EMI, reworking the curriculum and improving the level of English proficiency of teachers and doctoral students. The University of Delaware is one of the oldest educational institutions in the United States is intensively engaged in scientific research and has world-class equipment in the fields of materials science, physics, geology and engineering.

The workshop was attended by Baerbel Schumacher, Deputy Director for International programs, University of Delaware; Nigel Caplan, program coordinator from the University of Delaware; Zhadyra Konurbaeva, Vice-Rector for academic activities in EKTU; Anthony Hetrick, Head of the Center for educational technologies in EKTU; Madina Yussubalieva, program coordinator in EKTU; Anastasia Zhangerbaeva, specialist of the Center for educational technologies in EKTU.
